HOW CAN THE LINCOLNSHIRE OUTREACH NETWORK HELP YOU?

FULFILLING OFSTED

By utilising the services of the network, we can help you to fulfil requirements of the latest Ofsted framework. By engaging in our workshops and activities, it encourages:

  • ‘A higher proportion of pupils to progress on to a range of higher and further education establishments’ and
  • ‘Pupils to understand how their education equips them with the behaviours and attitudes necessary in their next stage of education, training or employment and for their adult life’

CROSS CURRICULAR LINKS

The Lincolnshire Outreach Network’s workshops can link in with curriculum areas within the school, can be used for skills development or can introduce pupils to a broad range of new subjects in ‘taster’ form.

INSPIRING YOUR STUDENTS

The activities delivered by the Lincolnshire Outreach Network aim to raise the aspirations of all students. We endeavour to provide them with the motivation and encouragement to go further and achieve more.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

WORKSHOPS

We can come to your school or college to deliver a range of outreach activities, including:

  • ‘What Next?’ A 30-minute talk for young people, inspiring them to explore Higher Education opportunities and provide information about the routes into, and the benefits of, Higher Education.
  • ‘Discover Higher Education’ – A full lesson of fun and informative tasks designed to demonstrate the broad range of Higher Education courses available to students and how they get there.
  • Student Ambassadors – We can coordinate with your local college or university to bring in student ambassadors to act as positive role models for your pupils. They can share their stories or hold a question and answer session to inspire and excite pupils about the opportunities in their area.
  • Bespoke – If you are holding a Careers Week, Thinking Ahead Day or other similar event, just get in contact and we can design a workshop or talk depending on your needs.

VISITS

Visits to Lincolnshire Outreach Network partner institutions, including:

  • General Open Days
  • Academic tasters sessions and workshops
  • Summer Schools
  • Bespoke visits arranged for individuals or groups on request

INFORMATION

Information and guidance on progression into Higher Education. Lincolnshire Outreach Officers can attend your parent’s evenings, careers fairs or other similar events to answer questions and provide details about routes into Higher Education.

PRESENTATIONS

Representatives from the Lincolnshire Outreach Network partner institutions can deliver presentations on various aspects of Higher Education, including:

  • Why choose Higher Education?
  • How to choose a course and institution
  • Student finance and funding
  • UCAS applications and personal statements
  • Making the most of Year 12
  • Bespoke talks on student support, well-being and additional needs

THE COASTAL IMAGINATION PROJECT

‘Imagination’ is an innovative and exciting collaborative outreach project which offers experiential learning opportunities to pupils in isolated communities along the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire coasts. Its aim is to raise aspiration, attainment, and progression.

The initiative is the brainchild of three National Networks for Collaborative Outreach: University of Hull Federation of Regional Colleges for Engagement (FORCE), the Lincolnshire Outreach Network, and Higher York.

FOR TEACHERS

Introduction to the Network:

Representatives from the Network can offer a 30 minute informative talk for staff, including background to the network, its aims and objectives and how you can utilise it to benefit your school.

Continued Professional Development:

We are running a series of free CPD sessions for Advisory Staff and Teachers, based on a number of topics surrounding Higher Education.
